What is BILETA?

BILETA was formed in April 1986 to promote the use of technology in legal education throughout the UK and Ireland.  It:

• promotes research projects
• supports the development and distribution of software - such as from the Law Courseware Consortium
• provides information on technology in law developments
• supports the publications of the UK Centre for Legal Education
• supports relevant research publications such as the Journal of Information, Law and Technology and the Electronic Law Journals Project
• organises the annual BILETA conference
• makes representations on technology and law through the production of written reports
• liaises with the Association of Law Teachers and the Society of Legal Scholars and other academic organisations and professional organisations such the Society for Computers and Law . Such organisations are not limited to the UK and Ireland, but include those such as CALI in the US, or Jurix in the Netherlands

The 2011 BILETA conference (the 26th annual conference) will be hosted by the Manchester Metropolitan University Law School on 11-12 April 2011.  Early submissions and suggestions for streams (including convenors) are welcome:
